k i’m going to blame my scanner here. it isn’t very sensitive when it comes to picking up tones and now the model on the top left looks like she’s made out of metal. sigh -_-
i’m ashamed i didn’t do enough still life studies this year :/
this took about 3.5 hours. i’m giving up on it now because it’s late and i need to get to bed! painted it while watching the colbert report, the daily show, a national geographic documentary on meth and half a bbc documentary on the history of scotland ._.
i randomly got angry again and did some quick gestures to calm down. some were as quick as a minute and some were up to 5-10 mins, i think. need to stop focusing unnecessary energy whining internally about how unfair life is.
referenced. wanted some quick practice with form, colour and texture again but this ended up taking way too long, possibly 2 hours :(
20 mins. referenced.
just wanted to practice blocking in an image really fast.
some quick practice to warm up.

unfortunately most of the pictures in the gallery are female, it’s not easy getting male references :/
drew these at my own leisure last night from photo references. also, i dislike nearly all of the green colour pencils i have, somehow i just find the colour really awful to look at. perhaps it’s because my mother forced me to stare at trees as a kid for a set amount of time every day in order to stave off myopia thanks to some pseudo-scientific theory someone told her about (not kidding). i’m currently using one called chrome oxide green fiery and yeah i got it because the name amused me.
yeah i got lazy…i tossed 4 page on multiply mode in one file :x
haven’t done a study in a while, referenced a photo for this, what a mess haha, this also took me way too long to paint…possibly 4 hours. it could probably have been more polished but i have a lot of other stuff to work on right now ><
i didn’t update this blog for the entire month of august because i spent 3 weeks in the UK (which i loved) and was too lazy to scan anything for the last 2 weeks.
i had to throw away one of the sketchbooks i’d completed this year because it was right next to a drawing board that was starting to rot away. Some kind of insect started to eat away at the wood but it didn’t eat the paper of the sketchbook or the cabinet though, it was gross and bizarre as hell. god i leave for 3 weeks and THIS happens. There was so much (i assume) dried digested wood stuck to the book i didn’t even want to bother trying to salvage it. aurgh -_-
couldn’t finish this one in 40mins ><
the scanner seems to prefer my newsprint sketchbook, the scans are still washed out and bright but not as bad as the sketchbook with thick, white paper stock >_> i suppose the reflectivity of the paper matters >_>???
